Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is an British and American sitar player. She also plays music. She was the first woman within her age bracket to receive an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging young star of the Indian sitar. She is a student and daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the early years of her life bouncing between London and New Delhi. As a teenager when her first performance was in New Delhi took place. Later she moved in Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful performing and recording careers, even though she's only a teenager. She performs regularly alongside her father and has done so for a long time years. In 1998 she released her first solo album Anourag. She released Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years following. Because she has performed on every major stage in the world, her career on stage has been extensive. Anoushka's career does not only comprise the world of music. She published Bapi The love of my life in 2002. This is a picture biography which pays tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. She also acted on the film "Dance Like a Man" in 2003. Her role was as a Bharat natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka's career is still developing and she'll continue to achieve great success in the near future. Anoushka Shankar is a British born musician who spent her early days in London, Delhi and California. In Delhi during his birthday celebrations for his 75th birthday Anoushka first made an appearance as a sitar player before the crowd of four years following her nine-year-old father. Anoushka gained a lot of experience touring the world together with her father. She appeared at Carnegie Hall in her teenage years, and recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. Her musicianship and talent was recognised by British parliament as among the finest in Asian Arts.
